Hip Hip Hooray! It is 'Super Diffusion' again …
For the 50th time now – so first of all: congratulations to me, myself and I. :)
I don't want to say too much here: times remain turbulent and the future is sometimes unclear. And yet, week after week, I look forward to sharing my positive findings with you here.
And if you like my findings I would love you for like it and share it to as many humans by your choice as possible. That's the only way to keep confidence alive — let’s start this ‘Super Diffusion’. Here's to the next 50 issues.
💻 Al Gore’s Climate TRACE #datelove
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has launched Climate TRACE, a groundbreaking platform providing near real-time, independently verified data on global greenhouse gas emissions. Traditionally, nations and industries have been slow and inaccurate in self-reporting emissions. Climate TRACE addresses this by using satellite imagery, AI, and machine learning to monitor over 350 million sources worldwide, including power plants, factories, and transportation networks.
The latest data, as of January 2025, reports 5.26 billion tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions globally — a 0.59% decrease compared to the previous year, suggesting recent climate policies may be taking effect. One major strength of Climate TRACE is its ability to reveal discrepancies between reported and actual emissions; for example, emissions from oil and gas operations were often underreported by up to three times.
By providing transparent, accurate, and accessible emissions data, Climate TRACE empowers governments, businesses, and civil society to make better-informed decisions. Al Gore stresses that such transparency is crucial for accountability, trust, and effective global climate cooperation.
In short, Climate TRACE represents a major leap forward in climate monitoring — offering a critical tool for driving real-world action and progress toward global emissions reduction goals.
🌱 Kohei Saito on Degrowth
In an interview with taz, Japanese philosopher Kohei Saito warns that continuous economic growth is incompatible with solving the climate crisis. He argues that capitalism’s relentless pursuit of growth clashes with the planet’s ecological limits. Saito advocates for a "degrowth" strategy, meaning a deliberate reduction of production and consumption to ensure that economies operate within planetary boundaries.
However, he emphasizes that such a transformation cannot rely solely on individual behavior changes or grassroots initiatives. Instead, he sees an essential role for the state, proposing a form of "war economy" — not in the military sense, but as a coordinated and organized effort to restructure the economy. This would involve focusing on essential goods and services and promoting sustainable technologies.
Saito also calls for a redefinition of freedom: moving away from consumer-driven self-realization toward a vision based on community, care, and sustainability. Without deep structural changes, he warns, growing social inequalities and the rise of authoritarianism could result. Thus, the climate crisis demands not only technological innovations but also profound societal and political shifts.
💫 170 actions to combat climate change
In a recent LinkedIn post, Ahmed Fathy shares 170 possible actions we can take to positively influence climate change. I find this collection very helpful and would like to share it with you.
🎧 A regenerative economy in three pillars
Again, a brief word of self-promotion: The start-up Wooden Valley is working on a regenerative construction industry. In the latest episode of ‘Regenerativ & digital’ I talk to the two founders about the three pillars of their business model. I am delighted to welcome every new listener.
